Guests visiting Walt Disney World Resort will continue to purchase these products through the My Disney Experience app.
There is no ticket add -on option at Walt Disney World Resort.
Let's explore the updates that were announced for Disney Genie Plus service
and individual lightning lanes.
Let's start with rebranding. To provide more clarity, we will rebrand. Disney Genie Plus service and individual lightning lanes at both Disneyland Resort and Walt Disney World Resort to align more with what they provide access to.
Lightning Lane Entrances On July 24, 2024, Disney Genie Plus service will be renamed to Lightning Lane Multi -Pass. And individual Lightning Lanes will become Lightning Lane Single Pass.
Based on the ways we know most guests visit Disneyland Resort, the process to
purchase, select, and redeem Lightning Lane passes will remain the same. Only the names are changing.
However, we will make changes to the Lightning Lane process at Walt Disney World Resort to improve guest experience and give them the opportunity to lock in.
Guests who visit Walt Disney World Resort have told us that they want to do more of
their planning before their vacation instead of while they're in the middle of it. These updates will allow them to plan some of their Lightning Lane experiences
for multiple days all at once before their visit. Guests also will be able to see which experiences are available to book before they make their purchase.
While these features will be available to guests from other countries, they will be able to begin their pre -arrival planning after they reach the United States.
Lightning Lane passes let you choose select attractions and experiences before
you arrive, so you can secure some of your must -dos, spend less time waiting
in line, and more time experiencing the magic.
When you purchase a Lightning Lane MultiPass, you can choose up to three
experiences in advance. We'll recommend arrival windows that work with your plans, but you can also choose other options.
Once you're in the park and enjoy your first Lightning Lane experience, you can
make an additional selection, subject to availability.
And don't forget the Disney PhotoPass perks included with your purchase, like digital downloads of select attraction images and Disney -themed photo lenses.
In addition to a multi -pass, you can also purchase a Lightning Lane single pass for up to two of our most in -demand attractions per day.
Check the tip board of the My Disney Experience app to see available experiences for both passes.
Change your plans or your mind about what you booked?
You can modify your choices at Walt Disney World Resort, which will be called Lightning Lane Multiple Passes.
Lightning Lane Multiple Passes will be available for purchase in advance instead of only on the day of use.
Today, guests can purchase Disney Genie Plus service for just one theme park or
all four. Lightning Lane Multiple Passes will available for purchase to pre -plan at only one theme park per day. There is no option to purchase or make advanced selections across multiple theme parks on a single day.
However, all individual theme park options provide guests the ability to make selections at other theme parks on the day of use after the guest has used one selection, provided they have admission with park hopper benefits and subject to availability.
Rather than being able to book just one Lightning Lane experience at a time, guests will be able to pre -select arrival windows for up to three Lightning Lane experiences at one theme park as part of their purchase.
Once guests reach the day of their visit, they will be able to book another Lightning Lane experience after they use one.
Let's look at changes to individual lightning lane. Individual lightning lane will now be
called lightning lane single pass. Today, a guest must purchase individual
lightning lane on the day of use. Like lightning lane multiple pass, lightning lane single passes will be available for purchase in advance.
Like today, guests will be able to purchase up to two different Lightning Lane single passes per day for the attractions currently available with individual Lightning Lanes, though the list of experiences is subject to change.
Attractions available with Lightning Lane single pass will continue to be unavailable with Lightning Lane multi -pass.
Lightning Lane single pass will add the ability to select an arrival window from available options prior to making the purchase, so guests will know what they are buying before they check out.
Today, guests must purchase each individual Lightning Lane and Disney Genie Plus service in separate transactions. With Lightning Lane single pass, guests may purchase up to two Lightning Lane single passes and a Lightning Lane multipass for the same day in just one payment transaction.
To plan for additional days, they simply repeat this process. So these are the two ways to access Lightning Lanes at Walt Disney World Resort starting July 24th.
Lightning Lane Multi -Pass allows guests to purchase for one theme park per day and pre -select up to three Lightning Lane experiences in that theme park.
On the day of their visit, guests will be able to make another selection after they use one. Lightning Lane single passes also will be available for purchase in advance.
Guests will be able to purchase up to two different Lightning Lane single passes per day for the attractions currently available with individual Lightning Lanes.
Guests have the freedom to purchase Lightning Lane multi -pass, Lightning Lane single pass, both products, or neither of them. Attractions will continue to offer standby queues or virtual queues as they do today.
When they purchase Lightning Lane Multipass, guests can select their desired Lightning Lane experiences beforethey finish their purchase.
To help more guests enjoy some of our most in -demand experiences, attractions will be sorted into groups at Magic Kingdom Park, Epcot, and Disney's Hollywood Studios.
When guests select their Lightning Lane multi -pass experiences before their visit, they will be able to choose from Group 1, which will include some of our most popular experiences, and the rest from Group 2.
If a guest wants to, they can make all three of their Lightning Lane selections from Group 2. Note that attractions at Disney's Animal Kingdom theme park are not sorted into groups.
Guests may make all three of their Lightning Lane multi -pass selections from a single list of experiences at that theme park. As an example, a guest planning for a day
at Magic Kingdom Park will be able to select one experience from group one and two experiences from group two, or they can select all three experiences from
group two.
So when can guests purchase a Lightning Lane Pass and start planning? Let's find out.
So you want to purchase the Lightning Lane Pass? Let's see what you need to get ready, when you can buy passes, and how to make your selections.
First, gather your group's wish list for attractions and experiences.
Make sure you've downloaded the My Disney Experience app and connect everyone in your travel group on your family and friends list you can purchase lightning lane passes beginning at 7 am 3 days prior to your first park day and if you're staying at a disney resort hotel and other select hotels, even better you can purchase Lightning Lane passes seven
days prior to your resort reservation check -in day.
When you're ready to make your purchase, open the My Disney Experience app. Select the date and park. Whether you're purchasing a Lightning Lane multi -pass, single pass, or both, you can make your group's initial selections for each day in one go.
Get to the magic faster with a Lightning Lane pass. Guesting in select resorts will be able to start purchasing and planning their Lightning Lane experiences up to seven days prior to their check -in date for the length of their resort stay up to 14 days.
Guests will be able to begin planning at 7 am Eastern on the day they become eligible.
Guests must link their Resorts Day as well as their admission to their My Disney Experience account to begin planning experiences.
Guests will be able to plan for all days of their ticket, whether it's part of a package or if it's a standalone ticket. Once Lightning Lane passes launch, guests will be eligible for seven -day pre-planning if they are staying at a Disney Resort Hotel, the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Hotels, or Shades of Green Resort.
Pre -arrival planning must be done using the My Disney Experience app from within
the United States. Guests traveling from other countries will be able to complete their pre
-arrival planning once they have entered the U .S.
Let's look at an example. This guest has a resort stay with a five-day Disney theme park ticket that begins on Monday.
Beginning at 7am Eastern the Monday before they check in, the guests will be able to purchase their Lightning Lane passes and select their experiences for all 5 days when they have valid admission during their resort stay.
Guests who are not staying in one of the select resorts can begin pre -arrival planning up to three days prior to their visit.
Those three days are based on the start date of the date based ticket. Guests will be able to plan for all days of their date based ticket at that time.
A guest with a four day Disney theme park ticket will be able to begin pre -planning their
Lightning Lane experiences up to three days prior to the start date of their ticket. Since the guest ticket begins on Wednesday, they can start planning on Sunday.
They will be able to make plans for all four days they will be visiting the theme parks within their Tickets Valid Use Period.
Guests with tickets that still require theme park reservations can plan up to
three days before each of their theme park reservations.
This guest has made their first theme park reservation for Epcot on Thursday,
so they can begin planning Lightning Lane experiences beginning at 7 a .m. Eastern
on Monday. They can only make plans for that one day. Since their ticket type can plan three days in advance of each theme park reservation, they would have to wait until Wednesday to begin planning for their visit to Magic Kingdom Park on Saturday.
As with guests whose tickets require theme park reservations, pass holders will be able to plan up to three days before their visit.
As a reminder, pass holders must make theme park reservations if they wish to visit a theme park before 2 pm. or visit Magic Kingdom Park on the weekend.
Looking at our timeline again, a pass holder would be able to plan up to three days in advance. On Sunday, the pass holder would like to visit Disney's Hollywood Studios, but
they don't plan to arrive until after 2 pm so they would not need a theme park reservation. The pass holder would be able to begin planning for Disney's Hollywood Studios
on Thursday, selecting Lightning Lane experiences with arrival times after 2 pm. On Monday, however, the pass holder would like to visit Disney's Animal Kingdom
theme park in the morning on a day that requires a theme park reservation. The Passholder would be able to plan for their day at Disney's Animal Kingdom
theme park beginning on Friday, selecting any available times throughout the day. Passholders also may purchase a Lightning Lane Pass and make plans up to three days
before any days when theme park reservations are not required.
Note that if a passholder has a linked resort stay, their stay takes priority,
allowing them to begin planning up to seven days in advance of their check -in
date for the length of their stay subject to any block out dates for their annual pass.
Guests traveling from other countries will be able to access Lightning Lane
features, including pre -arrival planning, once they have entered the
United States and downloaded the My Disney Experience app.
Pre -arrival planning must be completed using the My Disney Experience app from
within the United States. As a reminder, the My Disney Experience app is currently only available in English. Looking at our timeline again, a guest arriving from another country for a five -night stay at a Disney Resort hotel, the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Hotels, or Shades of Green Resort would be able to start their planning once they arrive in the United States up to seven days prior to their check -in day.
They will have the ability to plan for all five days for which they have valid admission during their stay.
Guests arriving from other countries who are not staying in a Disney Resort hotel,
the Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Hotels or Shades of Green Resort would be able to start planning once they arrive in the United States up to three days prior to their ticket start date or their theme park reservation if their tickets require them.
Guests with date -based tickets will be able to plan for all the days of their ticket within its valid use period. Guests with tickets that require theme park reservations will be able to plan up to three days in advance of each day they hold a reservation.
Guests will be able to begin purchasing Lightning Lane passes in the My Disney
Experience app at 7 a .m. Eastern the day they become eligible. They will be able to start their purchase process as they do today from the home page or the tip board and my day pages. Plus, a new lightning lane passes tile is being added to the menu screen.
This new lightning lane passes tile won't just lead to a launching page to purchase lightning lane passes. Guests also will be able to view all their booked lightning lane experiences here, organized by date and time. This convenient layout should make it easier for guests to view their booked experiences and to make modifications if necessary. If a guest cancels or modifies the dates of their Resorts Day between the time they start pre -planning and their check-in date, their booked Lightning Lane experiences will be cancelled automatically within 24 hours.
The guest will receive an email letting them know that they are no longer eligible to hold their booked Lightning Lane experiences because their resort stay has changed. Some of you may remember that similar messages were sent in the days of Disney Fast Pass Plus service. Through this automatic cancellation process, only the guest booked Lightning
Lane experiences will be canceled.
The Lightning Lane multi -passes and Lightning Lane single passes themselves will not be canceled nor refunded. We plan to launch Lightning Lane passes on July 24th, 2024.
The largest number of guests will become eligible to begin pre -planning on this day, so special consideration should be made for any of your guests who will be traveling at that time.
Guests who are in the middle of their visit to Walt Disney World Resort will need to be made aware of this update and how to prepare for the change.
Through July 23rd, these guests will be eligible to purchase individual Lightning Lanes and Disney Genie Plus service on each day of their visit for same -day use, planning one Lightning Lane experience at a time throughout the day.
On July 24th at 7 am. Eastern, they will be able to plan for the rest of their visit if they are eligible. We recommend that these guests discuss what their travel party would like to do in advance so the guests doing the group's planning can have everyone's goals of what they wish to purchase and book.
Any guests who will be within their eligibility windows but have not yet arrived at Walt Disney World Resort also will be able to start planning for multiple days beginning July 24th. This includes resort guests checking in on July 24th through the 31st, as well as
guests with date -based tickets, tickets that require theme park reservations, or annual passes with valid use periods that include July 24th through the 27th. These guests should discuss their wish list of attractions with their travel party ahead of time to ease this process.
On launch day, Disney Resort hotels and guest relations locations will have extra support available to assist guests through this new process
